A Teutopolis man has been arrested on multiple counts including aggravated battery.
The Effingham County Sheriff's Office Tuesday arrested 39-year-old Jerrod Estes as the result of an investigation of an incident that occurred in a rural part of the county on May 21, where the victims believed they were being pulled over by a law enforcement officer. One of the victims believed the encounter was odd, and she reported it to police. Effingham County Sheriff's deputies and detectives have worked since the day of the report, investigating the case, collecting evidence, and conducting interviews.
In addition to aggravated battery, Estes was arrested on counts of false personation of a peace officer, and unlawful restraint.
The Effingham County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Effingham City Police Department, the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services, and the Effingham County State's Attorney's Office.
Estes is being held at Effingham County Jail and is expected to make his initial court appearance on Wednesday to determine whether he should be held under the Pre-Trial Fairness Act.
