Altamont city council members are a step closer to a vote on the sale of property at 107 North Main Street.
Two proposals were considered at Monday's meeting. Tyler Polk offered $10,000 while Ron Myers offered $10,500. Both Polk and Myers are neighboring property owners to the parcel in question.
Council members Tayler Polk and Jason Rippetoe, who are both related to Tyler Polk, abstained from any decision on the issue, and members Michael Walker and Terry White agreed that Myers' higher offer should be accepted. A formal vote to sell the property to Myers should come at the next Council meeting.
The Council also voted to approve the purchase of a police vehicle for a price not to exceed $45,000.
There was some discussion of a local grocery sales tax since the state grocery tax has been eliminated, but the item was informational only.
