An informational meeting has been scheduled in Altamont regarding the 1% sales tax that will appear on the November election ballot.

The community wide informational meeting will be held on Thursday, August 22. The meeting will be held at the Altamont Municipal Building beginning at 6:30pm.

The meeting was shared at Monday night's Altamont school board meeting. The Board also took their annual tour of district buildings to review improvements made. Those include reconfigured spaces at the grade school building for the nurse, Title programs, and a teacher workroom. Improvements at the high school building include asbestos abatement, kitchen renovation, new interior classroom doors, and handicapped seating in the gym.

The Board reviewed the tentative fiscal year budget, with a vote on the measure scheduled at the September meeting. Also approved was a leave for an employee, and a senior class trip to Washington, DC in March 2025.

In personnel moves, the Altamont board approved Josie Tedrick as a volunteer to assist with the high school dance team, accepted the resignation of Lisa Conner as a grade school teacher and hired Stephanie Morrison and Kirbie Mendenhall as grade school teachers, hired Janice Linder as a bus aide, terminated the employment of Benton White as a custodian and hired Randy Arnold as a custodian, and accepted an irrevocable intent to retire letter from James Hann who will retire at the end of the 26-27 school year.
