Lake Land College trustees Monday awarded Level One redesign work at the Effingham Technology Center to K. Wohltman Construction of Effingham.

Wohltman submitted the low of three bids at $1,571,902. Trustee Tom Wright abstained from the vote. Wright's Furniture and Flooring has about $4,000 in work on the project and Wright is retired from the business, but he abstained "out of an abundance of caution".

The Level One work involves the lower and main floors of the former Patterson Technology Center building. The Effingham Regional Career Academy will be located on the main floor, while remaining Patterson Technology operations in the building will be located on the lower floor.

Phase Two of the renovation of the building will involve the upper floor, which is where Lake Land operations will be located. That work will follow Phase One. Lake Land can continue to utilize the Kluthe Center in the meantime.

The votes Monday included an additional $258,200 in design work on the upper floor of the Technology Center, and will involve additional architectural design work. Also awarded was $750,000 in walls and doors construction work for the Phase One work at the Technology Center.

Also Monday, Lake Land trustees approved a three-year contract agreement with the college's custodial association. The agreement includes pay increases of $1.75/hour, $1/hour, and $1/hour, as well as a 4% hike to the wage scale.
