(ILLINOIS STATE TREASURER MICHAEL FRERICHS)
A Neoga girl was one of nine photographers ages 8 to 18 who won Bright Start college savings scholarships in the Cream of the Crop Photo Contest sponsored by State Treasurer Michael Frerichs.
A girl who was identified as Claire M. of Neoga finished second in the Age 8 to 10 Bracket. Her photo entry is entitled "Rural Soil Preparation". Claire and the other second place finisher each receive $500 scholarships.
The winning photographs will be displayed during the Illinois State Fair in the Treasurer's Tent.
The Cream of the Crop Photo Contest is now in its 12th year. It's part of the Illinois State Treasurer's Ag Invest program, which provides loan opportunities for Illinois farmers and agri-businesses to start, expand or add value to their farm operations. Frerichs has overseen the program since being first elected in 2015.
