Thursday at the 2024 Effingham County Fair (UPDATE)

It's another busy day at the 2024 Effingham County Fair.

Here's the schedule:

Noon--harness racing (hear all six heats of racing action on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com) 

3:30pm and 5:30pm--Community Showcase in the Schuetzenfest Building

Free Stage--Tanner Romaine

6pm--Carnival opens. It's a wristband night (FAIR BOARD PRESIDENT PHIL HARTKE SHARED THIS AFTERNOON THAT THERE WILL NOT BE SHUTTLE SERVICE TO AND FROM THE FAIRGROUNDS. THE FAIRGROUNDS PARKING AREA SHOULD BE FINE TO USE)

7:30pm--Whippoorwill Rodeo sponsored by Rural King and JT's Tree and Crane

9am--4-H and Junior Dairy Cattle Show

1pm--4-H and Junior Pygmy Goat Show

9am--Class U Meat Goat Show

The 80th Annual Effingham County Fair runs through Saturday at Altamont.

Congratulations to the top performers at this year"s Fair Talent Show, held Sunday night.

In the Senior Division, Cole Burrell finished first and Addison Bunton finished second

In the Junior Division, Reese Stigers was the winner while Landon Berg finished second.

The top finishers will have the opportunity to compete in January at the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs Convention in Springfield. The top finishers there can compete in the summer of 2025 at the Illinois State Fair.
