Louisville resident Daniel Cornwell has been sentenced to 16 years in prison on drug charges.
The 51-year-old Cornwell was sentenced in Clay County Circuit Court by Judge Joel Powless on a charge of unlawful possession with intent to deliver methamphetaine, a Class X Felony. The charge alleges that Cornwell possessed with intent to deliver several baggies containing meth on June 11.
Once out of prison, Cornwell will have an 18-month period of mandatory supervised release.
The investigation was conducted by the Illinois State Police Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force and was assisted by the Clay County Sheriff's Office and the Fayette County State's Attorney's Office.
Clay County State's Attorney Phillip Givens said, "This took a combined effort from multiple agencies to bring this drug dealer to justice in an efficient manner."
