Effingham Park Board members have decided to make a change as far as who operates the Richard E. Workman Sports and Wellness Complex.

The Board has hired Trophy Fitness to operate the complex, effective September 15. The firm will be paid $8,000/month over the life of the three-year contract.

The switch from current provider Rink Management has been discussed for several months. Park District Director Jeff Althoff said the belief is that Trophy Fitness is a "better fit".

Also this month, the Park Board approved a dedication of right-of-way and an easement with the City of Effingham. The agreement is related to the westerly extension of Santa Maria Avenue from 4th Street to Maple Street along the north side of Evergreen Hollow Park.

The Park Board also passed their budget and appropriations for the coming year. The measure totals about $4.5 million. Althoff said the budget is similar to last year's measure.
