Kinmundy Police report a motorcyclist they were trying to stop late Friday afternoon fled instead and led them on a lengthy chase around the Kinmundy and Alma area. The motorcycle eventually was laid down on the Wilson Road east of Kinmundy and the suspect ran on foot.

An attempt was made to establish a perimeter around the area where the cyclist ran. K9 units from Centralia and Fayette County along with a crop dusting helicopter flying overhead were unsuccessful in finding the suspect.

The chase went south from Kinmundy on Route 37 to Orchard Road on the north side of Alma and then back up around the Sullivan and Wilson Roads.

Sheriff Kevin Cripps feels they have a good idea who they are seeking and he has a past history of fleeing police.

The incident unfolded around 4:30 Friday afternoon. The sheriff’s department joined Kinmundy Police with the search after the man had fled on foot.
