Altamont city council members Monday approved a new five-year contract with DBS for sanitation services.

The fee will be $13/month for garbage pickup and 50 cents/month for recycling services. The new fee will appear on customers' bills payable in September. The fee will increase by 3% each year. The service is changing to totes. If a customer wants an additional tote, it will cost 1-1/2 times the garbage fee.

Also Monday, the Altamont council voted to deny a commercial use of property at 208A North 10th Street, but voted to approve the publishing of a request for alternate proposals regarding the possible sale of 107 North Main Street.

Altamont council members approved electronic attendance by the members at city meetings, effective at the next meeting. The Council also passed the appropriations ordinance for the fiscal year at a total of $7,731,779.  Also approved was a payment of $11,327 to DKSK Properties for masonry repair outside Kremer Pharmacy.
