North Clay Board Gets Construction Update

North Clay school board members got to tour work done on the district building project at this month's meeting.
Ben Menke of Poettker Construction led the tour, which began in the parking lot with a discussion regarding the current plans for student, parent and bus traffic around campus and the timetable for installing pre-cast walls for the new gymnasium and vocational shop.
The tour then moved inside to review the progress with the new bathrooms on the north end of the building the new secure main entryway and office suite area.
Finally, a walk through the upstairs and downstairs hallways took place with a discussion on the timeframe of the new tiles to be installed over the next couple of weeks.
Menke explained that the project is on schedule and progressing, as planned.
There was also discussion regarding technology and equipment for the new gymnasium, specifically scoreboard, sound system options, and weight room equipment. The Board heard from member Jon Carroll along with Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Rich Grubaugh and Superintendent Keith Price about upcoming tours of other districts to see demonstrations of scoreboards.
The Board also heard that new junior high student and teacher furniture has been installed, along with new Art Room furniture and kiln, new updated teachers lounge, and some updated office furniture.
Several personnel items were addressed. The Board granted a maternity leave to Lauren Schafer, and hired Adam Frederick as girls junior high track coach, Ben Rounds and Diona Griffy as fulltime bus drivers, Cameron Crays as a permanent sub, Nick Carter as a full time paraprofessional, and Brandi Graham as full time paraprofessional. The Board also accepted a letter of resignation from Jessica Percival as a high school Science Club sponsor,and approved a leave of absence for Karen Williamson.
