One Killed, Two Injured in Jasper County Crash

One person was killed and two others were injured in a crash Friday evening in rural Jasper County.

The crash happened at 5:45pm on Illinois Route 33 at East 1200th Avenue. 

Illinois State Police report a car was traveling westbound and a van was traveling eastbound. The car attempted to pass another westbound vehicle, pulling into the eastbound lane, and struck the van head-on. 

Jasper County Coroner Jason Meyer said the driver of the car who was killed in the crash was 47-year-old Jason Nation of Springfield. Nation was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the van was tranported to a local hospital with injuries. A passenger in the van was airlifted to another hospital for treatment.

Route 33 was shut down at 5:57pm Friday for the traffic crash investigation. All lanes were opened at 12:40am Saturday.
