Two Sentenced in Clay County to D.O.C.

Clay County State’s Attorney Phillip M. Givens has announced that Seth Beccue, 31 years of age, of Flora, Illinois, and Briar Blair, 25 years of age, of Louisville, Illinois, were sentenced to time in the Illinois Department of Corrections on July 17, 2024, in Clay County Circuit Court.

 

Beccue was charged with Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine, a Class 1 Felony, on December 7, 2023.  The charges alleged that Beccue knowingly delivered more than 5 grams but less than 15 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine on March 3, 2023.  Beccue pled guilty to the charges on April 19, 2024.  He received a sentence of 6 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on July 17, 2024.  He will have a 1-year period of Mandatory Supervised Release.

Blair was charged with Forgery, a Class 3 Felony, on June 26, 2023. The charges alleged that Blair knowingly issued or delivered a falsely endorsed check with the intent to defraud another.  Blair pled guilty to the charges on May 6, 2024.  He received a sentence of 3 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on July 17, 2024.  He will have a 6-month period of Mandatory Supervised Release.

The investigations were conducted by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Flora Police Department.  State’s Attorney Phillip Givens said: “My office will continue to hold people accountable as we work with our law enforcement agencies in protecting our great community against a variety of crimes.  We are grateful to have such hardworking law enforcement officers look out for the best interest of justice”.
