Motorcyclist Identified in Effingham Crash

Champaign County Coroner Stephen Thuney has released the identity of an Alabama man who died as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash on July 4.

Russell L. Bright, 63 years old, died at Carle Foundation Hospital at 12:14 P.M. on July 12, from multiple traumatic injuries.

Preliminary information indicates that Mr. Bright was driving on the northbound ramp from US 45 to Interstate 57 at mile post 162 at Effingham, when his motorcycle left the roadway for an unknown reason.  Mr. Bright was initially transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital and later transferred to the trauma center at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

No autopsy was performed.

This death is being investigated by the Champaign County Coroner’s Office and the Illinois State Police.
