Shelbyville resident Kristopher Karcher has been given prison time after pleading guilty to two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
The 32-year-old Karcher was arrested in January on eight counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault of a child. In court Wednesday, Karcher pleaded guilty to the two new counts, which carried lesser possible sentences. The original charges were dismissed.
Judge Bryan Kibler accepted the negotiated plea and imposed the five-year prison sentence. Karcher was given credit for 182 days already served. He will have to serve up to one year of mandatory supervised release once out of prison.
Karcher was also fined $5,460.
