South Central Board Approves Teacher Contract

South Central school board members have approved a two-year contract with the South Central Education Association, representing teachers in the district. The contract will cover the coming two school years.

The Board also approved a memorandum of understanding with the South Central Federation of Support Personnel for the coming school year. Board members also approved the salary sheet proposal for staff and administrators not covered under any agreement, and increased all substitute pay for the coming school year.

South Central board members also increased officials' pay for the coming school year; and approved all bids for improvements at the elementary school from Johannes Construction.

The Board approved a letter of retirement from Julie Green, congratulated Ginny Keen on her 16 years' service as district bookkeeper and wished her well in retirement, approved resignations from Emily Piper as high school Math teacher and Assistant Scholar Bowl coach, and accepted a letter of resignation from Sara Beth Williams as Color Guard Sponsor.

Board members hired Cameron Eischens as high school Math teacher and Lacy Green as an elementary school teachers' aide; heard that the amended fiscal year budget was about $20,000 in the black when comparing income and expenditures; renewed membership in the Illinois Association of School Boards; and heard updates on the roofing project at the high school gym, and the addition of the outside refrigerator/freezer and improvements underway at the elementary school.

The Board also hired several paid assistant coaches, including middle school co-assistant softball coaches Paul Ruholl and Jeremy Chasteen; middle school assistant baseball coach Jeremy Dodson; high school assistant baseball coach Spencer Johannes; high school assistant cheer coach Jordan Geiler; elementary lunchroom supervisor Alex Phillips; and Bianca Little to assist with the marching band and color guard.
