Promoting a Vision for Effingham County (PAVE) will be hosting an expanded Summer Build It Camp, in partnership with Bench Worx, at the Teutopolis Park District on June 21st and June 24th.
This two-day event will offer campers the opportunity to learn how to use tools safely and unleash their creativity through hands-on projects. The Teutopolis Civic Club is sponsoring the camp.
Club President Dr. Gerald Runde expressed that the sponsorship aligns perfectly with the Club's mission, which focuses on Family Support, Community Excellence, and Youth Promotion. Reflecting on the decision to make a donation, Dr. Runde noted, "The Club had heard from some members who knew children that went through the program. They all said it was a great experience for them, building something with their own hands was very rewarding."
Bench Worx, a mobile education program, introduces students of all ages to the art of woodworking. The program is designed to build confidence and provide children with a practical understanding of real tools, material manipulation, and various processes. Bench Worx aims to teach children to use tools safely, effectively, and eventually independently, fostering a sense of accomplishment and self-reliance.
