Altamont city council members considered the sale of property at this week's meeting, but a motion to authorize the sale died for lack of a second.

Ron Myers of RDM Cabinetry is hoping to buy the property at 107 North Main Street and offered $9,000. Myers hopes to expand his business into the property. A motion to authorize the sale was made by Commissioner Mike Walker, but the motion died for lack of a second. Another neighboring property owner, Tyler Polk, said that he had made a bid to purchase the property, but Mayor Dan Milleville indicated he'd heard that offer was no longer active.

Tyler Polk is the brother of Council member Tayler Polk. Tayler Polk recused himself from voting on the matter before the item was considered. Council member Terry White was not present for the meeting.

Also this week, the Altamont council heard again from Sharon Harper regarding the rehabilitation of a mult-use court at Nori's Yard. Harper said Courts and Cracks have bid $11,000 for the rehab work. She asked that if she raised half the project cost, would the City match that amount? There was no action on the proposal.

The Council approved a vendor agreement with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program for the next year. Council members also amended the city code to prohibit the locating of transportation containers in commercial and residential areas. The exception would be if someone requests a temporary permit for the containers where construction is taking place to store materials for the project. The temporary permit would be valid for up to one year. A couple of the containers already in place will be grandfathered in.
