Lake Sara Area Resident Found Dead Thursday Afternoon

Early Thursday afternoon, July 11, fishermen observed what was suspected to be a deceased subject near Lake Sara. Law enforcement was notified, responded and did locate a deceased subject near the Lake Sara Community Building.

The Effingham County Coroner's Office responded and pronounced the subject deceased at 3:08 p.m. The death is being investigated by the Effingham County Sheriff's Office. Initial investigation identified the deceased subject to be Dustin Knapp, age 24, of the Lake Sara area.

Details concerning the death are being withheld, pending the results of an autopsy scheduled for July 13, 2013, but foul play is not suspected. The investigation continues by the Effingham County Sheriff's Office and the Coroner's Office.

Other agencies assisting in the response and the investigation are the Illinois State Police, Effingham Water Authority Police and the Shumway Fire Protection District.
