Three-Vehicle Crash in I-70 Construction Zone Sunday

A three-vehicle crash occurred in the I-70 eastbound construction zone Sunday afternoon.

State Police report the crash occurred at approximately 5:28pm, approximately eight miles east of Montrose. 

Two semis and a car were involved in the crash. Police say traffic began to slow down. For an unknown reason, one of the semis was unable to stop in time and struck the car and the other semi.

The driver of the car was injured and was transported by Rural Med EMS to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. Neither of the drivers of the semis reported any injuries.

All lanes were reporrted open at approximately 7:13pm. 

Teutopolis and Montrose Fire Protection Districts assisted on scene.
