A Stewardson man was injured in a crash northwest of Effingham early Friday morning.

40-year-old Russell Siler was traveling west on Cadillac Drive, just west of Nazarene Road at 12:36am when the crash occurred.

Effingham County Sheriff's Office reports Siler's pickup truck left the roadway and struck a utility pole, causing the pole to break. Deputies say Siler then attempted to back up and drive back east, but the vehicle got caught up in the downed power lines and disabled the vehicle.

Siler was taken for treatment to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Norris Electric was contacted to repair the power lines and the utility pole.

Siler was cited for DUI, improper lane usage, and operating an uninsured vehicle.
