Effingham Public Library board members have hired FGM Architects to design an expansion of the Children's Room at the library.

Library Director Amanda McKay said the plan is to move the glass wall of the Children's Room forward into the adult space. The logistics of that project is where FGM comes in. The firm submitted what McKay termed a "slightly lower" price than one other firm and said FGM has more experience with libraries.

McKay said the project carries an "all-in" price tag of $150,000. Infrastructure considerations are a major factor in the project, which McKay said should be under construction this winter.

The library board also voted to maintain its same slate of offices. That includes Matt Greider and Jared Chesnut as co-presidents, Charlene Topel as secretary, and Shelby Dasenbrock as treasurer.

The Board also welcomed Jackie Tabbert, who succeeds Rod Wiethop. Wiethop leaves the Board after 18 years' service.
