Brownstown Board Sets Fees for Next School Year

Brownstown school board members had a busy meeting this week.

The Board contracted with Stacy Gibson for speech services; purchased interactive boards and Chromebooks; purchased an Intro to Reading Series curriculum for the elementary school and hired Cheryl Sasse to paint classrooms at the elementary school; hired Westendorf Construction to redo the junior high baseball diamond dugouts; hired IDEAL Environmental to complete an asbestos abatement in the elementary gym; hired ABC Flooring to replace the carpet in the elementary gym; and approved a collective bargaining agreement with the Brownstown Education Support Personnel Association.

The Board set registration fees for the coming year: elementary $95, Junior and Senior high school $120, driver's ed $50, Ag Mechanics $15, and Ag I and II seven dollars.

In personnel moves, the Brownstown board accepted resignations from Michele Hoyle as junior high English teacher, Shawna Bloemer as high school English teacher, and Cassie Perrin as Ag teacher. Those hired were Logan Mahon as junior high Math and Science teacher and Bill Meyers as junior high and high school English teacher, and approved Stacey Summers, Shannon Sapp and Kenden Merkley as summer janitorial help.

The Board scheduled a public hearing on an amended budget for the current fiscal year on Monday, June 17 in the high school distance learning lab.
