There were 3.5 days suitable for fieldwork statewide in the week ending May 19, 2024.
Statewide, the average temperature was 67.4 degrees, 4.0 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.92 inches, 0.09 inches below normal.
Topsoil moisture supply was rated 3 percent short, 71 percent adequate, and 26 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 3 percent short, 78 percent adequate, and 19 percent surplus.
Corn planted reached 67 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 71 percent. Corn emerged reached 49 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 44 percent.
Soybeans planted reached 58 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 56 percent. Soybeans emerged reached 31 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 29 percent.
Winter wheat headed reached 90 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 74 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 5 percent very poor, 7 percent poor, 18 percent fair, 49 percent good, and 21 percent excellent.
