A local man has been sentenced to four years in prison on drug charges.

46-year-old Eric W. Lewis of Effingham was arrested in August of 2023. He was charged with possession of controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver controlled substance, possession of cannabis, and possession with intent to deliver cannabis.

In court Thursday, Lewis pleaded guilty to the controlled substance delivery and cannabis delivery charges and was sentenced to four years on each charge. The sentences will run concurrent. The other counts pending in the case were dismissed.

Lewis will be placed on six months mandatory supervised release upon his release from prison.
