Visit Effingham is gearing up for National Travel and Tourism Week, May 19 – 25, and will be celebrating the industry’s critical role in powering economies, communities, and connections.

Travel is essential to every state and countless destinations across the nation, just like here in Effingham. Travel serves as a catalyst for a productive U.S. economy and helps power the success of other industries. The U.S. travel industry generated a $2.8 trillion economic output in 2023 and supported 15 million jobs, fueling communities, small businesses and working families across the country. In Effingham, the travel industry drove over $208 million in visitor spending, which is a 3.4% increase from the previous year. It has also employed over 1,400 residents and generated over $6 million in local tax receipts in Effingham County in 2022.

Visit Effingham is celebrating travel’s promising future by inviting travelers and residents, alike, to experience National Travel and Tourism Week in Effingham. Follow along on social media as National Travel and Tourism Week is celebrated by highlighting some of Effingham’s unique attractions.
