Altamont school board members had an opportunity at this week's meeting to review preliminary renderings of an addition to their grade school building.

Altamont Superintendent Casey Adam said the drawings are of a six-classroom addition. The project would be built north of the district track, east of the existing grade school facility.

Adam said the district is out of space at the grade school. She said a junior high Health class is meeting in the library, there is no storage space, and the Pre-K enrollment has doubled in size. The renderings are preliminary in nature, but takes into account the square footage needed and the cost of the project in today's dollars.

Additional revenue would be realized with the passage of the 1% sales tax that will appear on the November election ballot, but as to when the district might consider proceeding with the project, Adam said, "As soon as we have the fiscal means, it needs to happen."
