Altamont city council members Monday heard from supporters of pickleball and establishment of a pickleball court in the city.

There is a court that is shared by those who play pickeleball, tennis and other activities in what is known as Nori's Yard by Frog Pond Nursery School.

Sharon Harper was in attendance at the Council along with Jonathan Kaye, who is a grant writer as well as a pickleball enthusiast. They are supportive of either new lines on the Nori's Yard area or new courts in another location in Altamont.

The matter was discussed, but there was no movement on any changes.

The Altamont council renewed the City's agreement with People's Bank and Trust for banking for the fiscal year beginning June 1; approved a payment on a new destratifier for the water treatment system, and approved a payment to Civic Systems for a software upgrade.

The Council purchased a utility line inspection camera and utility contractor for the sewer department. It was agreed, though, that the equipment could be used for other underground projects. The equipment will cost about $18,000.

Council members rescinded an earlier decision that raised the fee for teams and tournaments using Gilbert Park, and returned to the original fee of $200; and granted a special use liquor license for the Wright Mansion Wine Tasting Event on September 14.
