Altamont Board Approves New Contract w/District Teachers

Altamont school board members Monday ratified a three-year contract with the Altamont Education Association.

No action was taken on a proposed four-year contract wtih the Altamont Education Support Professional Association, but support staff members have not yet voted on the proposal.

The Board took action on several personnel matters. Resignations were accepted from Cheri Myers as unit secretary, Chloe Larimore as a second grade teacher, Macenzie Florida as a paraprofessional, Audra Fleeharty as grade school cheer coach, and Laura Beck as Scholastic Bowl coach. Those employed were Jessica Polk as grade school cheer coach, and Savannah Lyons and Nathan Stuemke as summer help. Natatia Starnes was approved for grade school cheer and Shelby Sasse for high school volleyball.

Altamont board members also discussed preliminary plans for an addition to Altamont Grade School with both GRP Mechanical and Poettker Construction. Also discussed was an amended budget for the current fiscal year.

The Board also renewed an agreement with People's Bank and Trust, awarded a bus bid to Central States Bus Sales for a 71-passenger unit for $152,230, and authorized Superintendent Casey Adam to place used kitchen equipment out for sealed bid. The Board also renewed a contract with OPAA for food services for the coming school year.

Monday night's meeting featured a presentation from the Altamont Lady Indians basketball team on their state tournament season.
