Effingham Water Authority trustees considered the sale of two parcels of property at Lake Sara at their recent meeting.
A bid of $87,700 was received for a lot at Pearson and Castella, but since the bid was less than 90% of the appraised value, it was not accepted.
However, a bid of $27,900 was received for a lot at Gypsy Cove and since that bid was within 90% of the appraisal, the bid was accepted.
Also, Noah Brandenburger of Lakeside Marina spoke to the Board about a commercial building they plan to start constructing this month. The building will include office space and storage space. Brandenburger also told the Board that they are applying for a state grant that will have to go through the Water Authority. Trustees told Brandenburger to talk with Parks and Recreation Committee Chair Tom Ryan regarding what to expect concerning paperwork and reporting.
Bill Breu of Gypsy Cover spoke about four difference seawall companies operating in the cove, limiting the acceptable space for their equipment.
