FBI Called in to Assist in Local Investigation

An FBI agent was in Effingham County to assist the Effingham County Coroner's Office in a cold case investigation.

County Coroner Kim Rhodes received a call from an out-of-state individual who provided information on an incident from several years ago. Rhodes spoke with the FBI and an agent has been assigned to assist the coroner's office in the investigation.

Rhodes said the investigation is in the preliminary stages and she had no other information to share at this point.
