North Clay Board Awards Construction Project Manager Contract

North Clay school board members voted at this month's meeting to approve a construction project manager contract for Phase 2 of renovations and additions. The action is related to a construction and renovation project approved by the Board earlier this year.

The Board also approved a dual credit contract with Illinois Eastern Community Colleges for the coming school year; approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Flora Public Library; approved bus bids on a 5-2 vote; approved registration dates and the fee schedule for the coming school year; approved athletic co-op agreements; approved summer school extended learning programs; approved a $5/day increase in the pay rate for substitute teachers for the coming school year to $140/day; discussed suggested student handbook changes with principals Ben Borries and Sarah Newby; and approved a matching grant from the Illinois Counties Risk Management Trust.

Board members approved a memorandum of understanding for the certified collective bargaining unit contract regarding Robotics stipends and ESports stipends; hired Jessica Bell as 7th grade girls basketball coach for the coming school year; hired Patrick Mapes as a high school PE teacher for the coming school year; approved Jeremy Barber and Layton Dawkins as volunteer boat captains for the bass fishing team; approved Devin Hilfrity as high school Spanish Club sponsor for the coming school year; hired Kelsey Gibbons as a cook for the coming school year; rehired non-certified staff for the coming school year; posted for music instructor positions; gave administrators permission to hire summer school teachers; accepted resignations from Michelle Ruesken as junior high head volleyball coach and from Maddie Craig as 7th grade volleyball coach; hired Billy Coble as 8th grade girls basketball coach and 5th and 6th grade coach for the coming school year; and approved Jamie Harvel as a high school volleyball volunteer. 

North Clay board members heard that CEO Night will be Wednesday night and that the FFA Banquet will be Friday night.
