Teutopolis school board members voted to place the 1% sales tax question on the November ballot. The measure will be on the ballot throughout Effingham County.

The Board also accepted a bid from Kross Masonry for masonry work at Teutopolis High School and the Unit office, and directed Superintendent Matt Sturgeon to seek bids for water and sewer line work for the grade school Fine Arts Building and for a new wheelchair-accessible school bus, and accepted a proposal from Larry Heuerman Trucking for resurfacing of the high school student parking lot.

Board members also accepted a proposal from Midwest Transit Equipment for purchase of a used school bus and from Fastenal for the purchase of a used truck.

The Board authorized Sturgeon make board policy compliant changes to the handbooks and to maintain fees at current levels for the 2024-2025 school year.

In personnel moves, the Teutopolis board accepted resignations or letters of intent to retire from Glen Kinkelaar as a bus driver; Kelly Swingler as a two-hour custodian; Michael Buening and Emily Petty as junior high cross country coaches; Dave Pruemer as fresh/soph boys basketball coach; Jennie Dittamore as high school cheer coach; and Melissa Habing as high school girls assistant tennis coach, with Pruemer, Dittamore and Habing remaining as volunteers; and Ashley Stevens as grade school Special Ed teacher.

The Board assigned or hired these individuals: Katie Jurgens as a librarian; Rick Belford up to 7.5 hours as grade school paraprofessional; various DO workers at the grade school; and Amanda Hazelett for up to two days of extended contract at the discretion of the building principal for DO student placement work.
