The Illinois EPA has honored a group of creative 5th and 6th grade students selected for their artistic and writing skills used to express environmental awareness. It's part of IEPA's Annual Poster, Poetry and Prose Contest.

Two of the Poetry and Prose Top Award winners are Kelci Macklin and Avery Schoonover of Beecher City. A ceremony was scheduled today in Springfield at the Illinois State Library to recognize the students.

This year's theme is "Where Does Water Go? How Can We Slow the Flow?"

Other Beecher City students were recognized...Aria Ervin and Luka Howell for Honorable Mention...and Colton Gregory, Luke Roadarmel, Isabella Smigiel and Jadyn Wright for Special Recognition.

The top 12 entries will be displayed on the Illinois EPA's website.
