A local teenager was injured in a single-vehicle crash Monday afternoon.

The crash happened at 5:02pm on the Funkhouser Road at the intersection with 1025th Avenue in Jackson Township. Effingham County Sheriff's Office reported a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old male juvenile from Effingham was southbound when the driver lost control in the gravel on the edge of the roadway. The vehicle skidded out of control and crossed the roadway to the left. The vehicle left the roadway and collided with a utility pole, then ended up on its top.

The juvenile was transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

Deputies cited the juvenile for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
