Local Man Found Dead in Motel Room

A local man was found dead in a motel room Tuesday morning.

The man was identified as 46-year-old Jason Ullrich of Effingham.

At approximately 9:00 am on Tuesday, the Effingham County Coroner’s Office was notified by the Effingham City Police of a death at the Days Inn motel in Effingham. Coroner Kim Rhodes arrived and was advised that the Days Inn staff attempted to contact the occupant of the room but were unsuccessful. Entry was eventually made to the room and Ullrich's body was found. There was no visible injury or trauma to Ullrich.

Toxicology samples were taken and medical records were requested from St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur and St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri where Ullrich had been treated recently.

The investigation is continuing by the Effingham City Police Department and the Effingham County Coroner’s Office.
