South Central Recognizes 7th Grade State Volleyball Team

The South Central School board this week recognized their 7th grade volleyball team that took fourth in State competition.

In regular business, the South Central board made its annual donations to the care of the three athletic fields that the district utilizes for school sporting events...Kinmundy Lions Field and Kinmundy Area Sports Complex $2,000 each and the Farina Park $1,000. The Board renewed membership in the IHSA for the coming school year, and learned that Cumberland School District will be joining the National Trail Conference for the 2025-2026 school year. The Board approved a senior class trip to St. Louis on May 10 and learned that voluntary student insurance will be made available through First Agency.

In personnel moves, the South Central board hired Madi Lockhart as a certified employee for the coming school year; named Shane Lother as assistant middle school track coach; named Erin Engel as middle school volunteer track coach; hired Jeremy Chasteen as assistant high school softball coach; accepted the resignation of Cassandra Leuking as of the end of the school year; and reviewed the resignation of Nathaniel Jefferson, effective March 20.
