North Clay school board members have awarded bids for a major renovation project at the school complex in Louisville.

42 bids were received for 15 different bid packages. The Board voted to award the base bid, plus two alternate bids.

The project will include a new gymnasium and new vocational education space for the District's Ag program. There will be new restrooms located throughout the high school building along with replacement of a stairwell. There will also be a new, more secure entryway for the high school. Another feature will be to convert the circle drive in front of the high school for use as parking.

The Board also discussed bus bids, but took no action on the bids; approved the calendar for the coming school year; renewed membership in the IHSA for the coming school year; and renewed the intergovernmental purchasing agreement with SEPCO. The Board awarded the mowing bid to MW Grounds Management; granted the administration authority to begin work on the budget for the coming fiscal year; approved a summer school program for the coming summer; and discussed but did not act on curriculum changes for the coming school year. The Board's building and grounds committee discussed high school locker room improvements related to the coming fiscal year's school maintenance project grant.

North Clay board members dealt with many personnel matters. Resignations as of the end of the school year were accepted from Michael Honerkamp, Paige Kincaid and Kim Holstrum; Denise Phillips was approved as a volunteer junior high school track coach, Lauren Schaffer as a fulltime Speech Pathologist for the coming school year, Hillary Dawkins and Malorie Craig as fulltime elementary teachers for the coming school year, and Logan Lotz as a fulltime elementary and junior high PE teacher for the coming school year. A resolution of non-reemployment was approved for Kelsey Toland; all other non-tenured certified staff were hired for the coming school year; a maternity leave was approved for Megan Welty; unpaid leave was approved for Kim Travis; and the Administration was given permission to hire certified staff and to hire necessary non-certified staff. The Board also approved the non-certified staff contract. 2024-2025 contracts were approved for Transportation Director Bryan West, Director of Buildings and Grounds Billy Coble, District Technology Coordinator Chad Traub and District Bookkeeper Jami Lewis, and a pay amount was set for District Treasurer Cheryl Kuhlig.

The Board also posted fulltime high school PE teacher and fulltime K-12 music teaching positions for the coming school year; and contracts were approved for elementary and junior high school principal Ben Borries and high school principal Sarah Newby, District Coordinator/Administrator Lauren Pals and with assistant principal and athletic director Richard Grubaugh.
