Brownstown school board members Monday hired their next superintendent.

The Board employed David Lund and gave him a three-year contract through the 2026-2027 school year. Lund is currently the Superintendent and Principal at Selmaville School in Marion County.

Lund will succeed Mike Shackelford, who is departing Brownstown at the close of the current school year to become superintendent of the Casey-Westfield school district.

Also Monday, the Brownstown board accepted a final letter of resignation due to retirement from Deb Hunter; discussed maintenance help for the summer; approved a resolution for a five-year lease/purchase agreement with Central States Bus Sales for a school bus; and agreed to replace the junior/senior high school business computer lab.

The Board also approved membership in the IHSA for the coming school year; renewed the SEPCO purchasing agreement for the coming school year; approved a resolution for the issue of taxable GO refunding school bonds; and agreed to replace the track discus area poles and net.
