Effingham County 911 board members spent much of their meeting Tuesday on financial matters.

The Board agreed to renew a $500,000 certificate of deposit. The CD earned 5.25% interest for the last period, and Board members agreed that there is no short-term need for the funds so the funds will remain in a CD.

Board members also accepted the audit of the past fiscal year from West and Company, and heard that the generator to serve as a backup power source is hooked up and "running great". The generator was ordered several months. The former generator, the original unit, is due to be auctioned off.

Work is progressing on the countywide communications system. Meanwhile, the City system is in place and functioning well.
