Altamont city council members have approved a new memorandum of understanding with CEFS Economic Opportunity Corporation.
The agreement concerns use of the Altamont Municipal Building for the CEFS Meals on Wheels program. The meals are put together at the Building for delivery throughout the city.
To this point, congregate meals have not resumed in the aftermath of the pandemic. If and when they do, the Municipal Building would be the Altamont location for the meals to be shared.
Also this week, the Altamont council approved a roadside fundraiser request from the American Legion to conduct a Poppy Day event on April 19, and the Council approved a $59,000 payment to Milano and Grunloh of Effingham for engineering design for water main replacement work.
Council members also approved a citywide cleanup during the week of April 22. Items must be along the curbside by 7am for pickup, the crews will not return to a street that has been visited that day.
Altamont is also putting together an electronic recycling day for May 18 with more details to be shared later.
