Dust Succeeds Brummer as TREC Board President

(INCOMING TREC BOARD PRESIDENT MOE DUST RECEIVES THE GAVEL FROM OUTGOING PRESIDENT FRANK BRUMMER AT TUESDAY'S MEETING)
After 17 years as TREC Board President, Frank Brummer said it was time for a change. The TREC Board honored his request not to serve as president anymore, although he will remain on the Board.
Moe Dust, an Effingham native who has returned to the area after many years away, was chosen the new TREC Board President. The other officers will remain in place, including Vice-President Bill Austin, Secretary Gary Welton and Treasurer Andy Vogt.
There was much discussion of the next phase of trail development. Phase 6D, then a followup phase will connect all of the parts of the trail. The next phase of the project is estimated to cost $250,000. Grant funds will be sought to cover much of the cost of the latest phase.
Time is of the essence on this coming phase; the deadline to submit grant requests is March 22. Anyone wishing to submit letters of support for the project can email mike.bridges@charleston-engineering.com.
Reports were shared on cleanup efforts on the trail network, with Starbuck's and the HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital medical staff. the latest groups to pitch in.
The Board also re-elected four incumbent members...Larry Micenheimer, Brad Beesley, Andy Vogt and Anne Marie Brummer. They will serve a term from 2024 to 2027.
