Beecher City native Larry Lilly has been selected to fill a vacancy on the Lake Land College Board of Trustees.

Lilly will succeed 37-year trustee Mike Sullivan of Mattoon, who resigned from the Board in February.

Lilly is a graduate of Beecher City High School, but spent his educational career in the Mattoon school district, concluding his tenure by serving as Mattoon Superintendent of Schools.

Lilly was one of three individuals who applied to fill the vacancy. He will be seated at the Board's April meeting.

Also Monday, the Lake Land board approved the first increase in tuition and fees in four years. There will be a $3.00 tuition increase and $1.50 hike in fees. Those rates will be effective for Summer 2024, Fall 2024, and Spring 2025.

The Board also approved an incentive program of $50 for early enrollment for Summer and Fall 2024 for anyone who is at least enrolled as a part-time student. Also approved was a fee waiver for dual credit courses associated with the Effingham Regional Career Academy for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. ERCA involves students from 14 area school districts.

Trustees also accepted a grant to help pay for an upgrade of lighting in the college Field House.
