Dieterich school board members Monday heard that there have been some issues with paint in the improved areas adhering to some walls. The contractor will be correcting the issue once students are out of the building.

The Board also explored options for repainting the high school gym. The cost of replacing the high school gym ceiling tile with a metal product would cost between $175,000 and $200,000 including new lighting.

Board members learned that the recently purchased lots at Main and Church Streets have been cleared.

The Dieterich board renewed a student management system subscription for just under $14,000 and approved a technology purchase to replace machines in the high school computer lab and purchased replacement Chromebooks for just more than $90,000.

The Board approved the calendar for the coming school year with the first day of student attendance on August 15, and purchased Grades K-5 reading curriculum for one year for just under $35,000

The Board heard from Elementary Principal Josh Benefiel on projected Kindergarten enrollment for next year, as well as the progress of the Pre-K Roundup. There were 54 children screened this year and there are currently 40 students registered for Kindergarten.

Dieterich board members heard from Cheer and Dance Coach Rae Lyn Schmidt regarding an assistant coach or coaches, stipend amounts, transportation and participant numbers, as well as foreign exchange student participation. The Board agreed to allow 16 cheerleaders on the Varsity squad, and to create a JV squad, which would accept all those who tried out that did not make the Varsity team. Additionally, an assistant cheer coach will be added for next school year.

The Dieterich board also accepted the resignation of Nicole Flood as high school head volleyball coach as of the end of the school year, approved a leave for staff member Megan Marks through the end of the school year as of April 6, and hired Ella Kreke, Hunter Niemerg, Dominic Ashley and Trevor Crutcher as student workers.

Board members discussed the possibility of placing the one-cent sales tax question on the November election ballot.
