One person is dead and another is critically wounded after a shooting incident in Moultrie County Thursday morning.  The victims are former Effingham residents.

Authorities say a man phoned Moultrie County 911 to report that he'd been shot.  When police reached the scene, they found 51-year-old Denise Robertson and 66-year-old Michael Robertson wounded.  Denise Robertson was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur where she was pronounced dead; Michael Robertson was taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana where he was listed in critical condition.

An autopsy was performed this morning at the McLean County Coroner's Office.  The preliminary cause of Denise Robertson's death is a single gunshot wound to the head.

The investigation is continuing.  No additional information on the incident is available from State Police.

A listener has informed us that the Robertsons are former residents of Effingham.  Gary Poland of Poland Sales and Service confirmed Friday afternoon that Michael Robertson sold cars at their dealership and also worked for Credit Thrift before moving from the area.
