Effingham Park Board commissioners heard at this month's meeting that there are 355 kids signed up for Spring Soccer session.

It was also reported that the deadline to sign up for baseball and softball has been pushed back to get more kids signed up for those leagues.

Park District Director Jeff Althoff reported that construction on Phase 2 of the skate park project at Hendelmeyer Park was scheduled to begin this summer, but some changes are being made to the layout. Althoff said construction might be pushed off until this fall or early next spring.

Althoff also reported that they are looking at replacing one of the playground structures at Evergreen Hollow Park. The structure is in need of repairs after 25 years of use.

The Park Board also held its first of three meetings of their efficiency commttee. The committee is required by state law in hopes the Park District will operate as efficiently as possible. Three meetings are required before December, with a final report to be submitted to Effingham County. The committee reviewed some of their ordinances and agreements in place by the Park District with other agencies such as the City, Unit 40, CEFS, and various travel teams.
