Members of the Effingham County Economic Development Advisory Board Tuesday heard from one of their success stories as far as a business that benefitted from a loan from the Board.
Kevin Hoopingarner of KLH Land Improvement shared about the growth of his business, and an increase in the number of employees. Hoopingarner said the business has developed a new logo, and said they've purchased some newer equipment. He said his chief goal is to get the loan he received paid off.
The County received a grant of close to $100,000 from Farmers Home Administration several years ago. The Advisory Board was formed to review applications from businesses wanting to get started or expand. The borrowers have a certain amount of time to pay off the loan; then the funds can be loaned to other businesses.
The Board hasn't hit a home run with every loan, but the success stories outnumber the losses by a large margin.
Anyone interested in a loan to start a business or to expand their operation should contact the Effingham County Board office at 217-342-4990.
