The American Cancer Society is looking for volunteers to participate in a survey.
The information gleaned from the survey, known as Cancer Prevention Study-3, will help determine who gets cancer and why. ACS is looking for men and women ages 30 to 65 who have never had cancer to participate in the survey. If any of the survey participants get cancer in the future, ACS will have a database to compare that person's case against those of others in hopes of spotting trends.
Those interested in participating the survey can go to www.cancer.org. You can also sign up for the survey at this year's Relay for Life set for Friday, July 12 at Teutopolis Junior High School.
Amelia Sloan of the Cancer Society was the guest speaker at the Wednesday, July 3 meeting of the Effingham Noon Rotary Club to discuss the survey. Troy Payne served as Rotary weekly program chairman.
