Several improvements continue in downtown Altamont.

City Council members Monday approved a payment of $10,000 in TIF dollars to Kremer Pharmacy for work they've done for a parking lot in back of the business including a drive-up window.

Work in front of the pharmacy to replace an elevated sidewalk exposed some of the foundation of the building, so Kirk Enterprises of Vandalia was paid $11,327 to make corrections. S&K Concrete was paid $15,282.75 for the earlier sidewalk work along 3rd Street.

Council members heard from Yvonne Flannigan regarding this year's National Road Yard Sale, which will take place Sunday, May 29 through Sunday, June 2. Flannigan got a pledge from the Council that the City would draft a letter of support for the event to be sent to other communities along the National Road. The Council also was approached by Dean Collette, who placed a portable building at 2 Jays Way. The City felt the building was placed on an easement, but Collette believes the easement was relocated so the City is doublechecking.

The City Council approved a roadside fundraiser request for VFW Poppy Days to be held on May 11, agreed to seek mowing bids to be opened at 10am on March 19 with an award at the next Council meeting, and approved roof replacement on a structure by Diamond A in Gilbert Park to be done by M&J Remodeling for $24,325.

Council members also approved a civic systems software upgrade for $17,050 to replace a system more than 20 years old. The project will include one new module. The project will allow online payment to the City by summertime.
