Three different student groups were recognized at Monday night's Effingham Unit 40 school board meeting.

Four South Side School students accompanied teacher Jessica Reeder to talk about activities at their school and what is still to come this school year. The students particularly mentioned the 100th day of school when students dressed up like they were 100 years old, as well as their upcoming field trip.

The students with Mrs. Reeder, left to right, are Jace Wendt, Breonna Tarin, Sophia Balda and Airys Poe.

The Effingham High School Competitive Cheer team were also present. The squad coached by Lisa Sigg won their second consecutive state championship. Our own Gail Warner is the assistant coach. The team members are: FRONT ROW LEFT TO RIGHT--Coach Lisa Sigg, Liz Hirtzel, Rylee Brown, Masey Mifflin, Abby Hemrich, Kylie Harminson, Jo Carrillo and Makenna Duckwitz...BACK ROW LEFT TO RIGHT--Assistant Coach Gail Warner, Addison Holste, Ella Tuman, Shelby Bowlin, Brianna Alwardt, Sarah Hirtzel, Lyndi Davis, Ryann Levin, Cora Hartmann and Lenzi Merriman. Abbie Cochran was at play practice so could not attend.

The third group of students recognized were those who earned All-State honors in music. Three students participated in All-State Orchestra, two in All-State Band, and two in All-State Choir. All-State took place in January in Peoria for students from throughout Illinois who earned the right to participate. Four of the students could join EHS Band Director Trent Mason at Monday's meeting. They are left to right--Abigail Heischmidt, Sydney Nelson, Evie Ballard and Gabby Haslett. The two All-Staters who could not attend are Chloe Blackwell and Chris Hooper.
